Theory Test Pass Rate
How do pass rates vary by gender?
In 2022/23, there were 1,335,069 Theory Tests taken by males and 1,095,366 by females, totalling a staggering 2,430,435 Theory Tests over the 12 month period.
Out of the 1,335,069 tests taken by males, 573,059 resulted in a pass, bringing the pass rate to just 42.9%.
When comparing to females, of the 1,095,366 Theory Tests that were taken, 501,713 resulted in a pass, bringing the pass pass rate to 45.8%.
So why is the pass rate so low? Our experience shows it’s mainly due to learners not being fully prepared. But when you consider a resit is £23, plus the cost of the original fail; bringing the booking fee up to £46 and that’s without taking into consideration the cost to get to the test centre, and your wasted time.
