Motorcycle Module 2 – Practical Riding Test

The Motorcycle Module 2 Test will take about 40 minutes to complete and costs £75.

You can take both modules on the same day but you must have passed Module 1 before you can complete this test. What do I need to take the test?

You must make sure that you bring the correct documentation with you on the day of your test, otherwise your test may be cancelled and you may lose your fee.

  • Your Theory Test pass certificate
  • Your UK photocard licence
  • Your compulsory basic training (CBT) certificate to both modules
  • Module 1 pass certificate
  • A moped or motorbike (see more)

Depending on what license you currently hold, you may not have to take the same test route.

What motorcycle can I use on the test?

The DVSA has certain rules around what motorcycle can be used on the test.

Updated in August 2019, the DVSA were given proof that the subcategory A2 and category A motorcycles meet the rules as outlined in their new list.

The new list of motorcycles that can be used for riding tests is available on the gov.uk website.

The Module 2 Test includes:

  • an eyesight check
  • ‘show me, tell me’ vehicle safety questions
  • independent riding
  • road riding

At the end of Motorcycle Module Two – Practical Riding Test

When the practical test is over, the examiner will tell you whether you passed or failed.

You can request feedback on your test from the examiner, who will then go through your performance during the test.

If you pass and have a photocard driving licence issued after 1st March 2004, the examiner will ask you if you want your full driving licence issued to you automatically.

If you want to use this service, the examiner will take your old licence off you, scan the details and send them electronically to the DVLA.

You will then be given a pass certificate to prove you passed your test.

The DVLA will then send you your new licence by post within three weeks of you passing your practical test.

What happens if I fail my Module Two Practical Riding Test?

If you fail the test you should ask the examiner for some feedback to help prepare yourself for your next test. Your driving report form will also show you where you made any mistakes.

You must wait 10 clear working days until you can book another Practical Test
